- I am an artist, not a technician or programmer; when I want todo something
- crative, I want the most intuitive tools to do it. Real3D may have an
- incredible list of features, but to get the desired effect in Real3D, you
- have to spend a much greater amount of time dealing with the intricacies
- of an unintuitive program structure.
-
- If you have the time to struggle through that, Real3D can definitely do
- amazing things. Rendering times for similar scenes can be phenomenally
- faster than LightWave when reflections, refractions and shadows are ray-
- traced. The latest version can render spline surfaces much faster than
- before (LW does not even support that in Layout) and its bones include
- IK and contraints.
-
- As far as high end animation effects and reasonable rendering speed are
- concerned, there is nothing better than LightWave on the Amiga market right
- now IMO. For complex modelling, LW positively blows Real3D out of the water,
- even organic modelling. LightWave's displacement mapping is excellent,
- and the addition of Sparks permits particle animations with much less
- procedure than Real3D.
-
- I am definitely keeping my eye on Real3D, and as soon as they
- decide to create an intuitive package, I will upgrade (again).
